What is a dental bridge?

A bridge is a space left when you lose a tooth or more. A dental bridge is a material used to fill in that missing space. A dental bridge is a false tooth with a crown on either end of the bridge. Implants or natural teeth are what hold a dental bridge in place.

Natural teeth or implants support dental bridges. Teeth bridges can be made from materials like gold, alloys, porcelain, zirconia etc. You can also opt for a combination of these materials.

Benefits of a dental bridge

A dental bridge can help you with the following:

  • Restore and improve your smile.
  • Improves your speech and ability to chew properly.
  • Prevent the other teeth from drifting out of position.
  • It helps to restore and protect the dental implant.
  • Fix teeth discolouration.

Dental Bridge Procedure

Getting a tooth bridge at Dental Paradiso is a straightforward process. All you need to do is book a consultation and schedule an appointment.

On your first visit, we prep the abutment tooth. Preparation will include re-contouring the tooth by scraping off the enamel aspects to allow the crown to fit over them easily.

The next step is for us to make an impression of the teeth. We do this dental procedure to obtain models from which the dental bridges will be produced. The production typically takes place at a dental lab.

Our dentists would create a temporary bridge for you to wear to protect your exposed teeth and gum while we craft your permanent bridge.

All of this will happen on your first visit.

On your second visit, we will remove the temporary bridge. Before the procedure, we will provide a local anaesthetic to reduce any resulting discomfort. After removing the temporary bridge, we will replace it with a permanent bridge.

Recovery and aftercare

In most cases, it would require a couple more visits to recheck and review the bites and the metal framework. The number of visits needed varies with individuals.

A few days after the surgery, you may experience some slight discomfort. However, such discomfort is temporary and will dissipate in a few days.

During the first few days, you would need to watch your diet. Hard-to-chew meals can trigger sensitivity in your newly fixed bridges, so you may want to stick to a softer diet.

Your smile can make all the difference!

Whether you want to improve the functionality or the overall aesthetics of your teeth, we are here to help. At Dental Paradiso, we often come across people experiencing tooth decay, broken or worn teeth.

We have our own on-site lab to create dental crowns and bridges in days, not weeks. Unlike other providers who may have your veneers manufactured overseas, we do it all in-house using only the highest quality, TGA-approved materials. That means no long wait times, and better quality crowns to keep you smiling.
